u16s waterhead 0-30 portico A game played in wet conditions started with waterhead applying a lot of pressure on the portico line but the defence held firm. On portico's 1st attack on the waterhead line a try was disallowed for a forward pass, it wouldn't be long until the waterhead defence cracked, this happened when a quick play the ball and quick pass allowed Jamie Tracey to score. Jack Jones added the conversion, within 2 mins it was 10 nil, Nathan Skupski crossing after good yards made by the forwards and the ball going from one side of the field to the other, james Tilley then followed up a kick from Lewis Foster, the waterhead fullback didn't fancy it and James Tilley carried 2 defenders over the line with him Jack Jones added the conversion. Rob Gormley was next to score on the right side again after good yards made by the forwards and good hands allowing Rob to slide over in the corner. Half time score 0 - 20.
Second half started as the first with waterhead throwing everything at portico again the defence held firm, Connor Dwyer then intercepted and ran in from 40 meters Jack Jones adding the conversion, the last score went to Andy Webster who finished a good move to go over in the corner,
A good solid performance from a team that could have rattled up 50 points if it wasn't for the referee pulling portico back in try scoring positions on 6 occasions.

The winning start to the season has ended and in such a dissapointing way.
From the kick off defences were on top, it was going to take something special or a mistake for either team to score and so it was when Portico were caught in possesion on the last tackle, the ball was intercepted by halton and the try was scored under the posts. This did not have the desired effect on Portico and during the remainder of the first half it was error after error allowing Halton good field position, 3 further halton try's were scored. Half time score Portico 0 Halton 22.
2nd half with Portico kicking down hill saw Portico have the majority of field position, however Halton held firm until Ste Wilson scored to the left of the posts try converted by Jack Jones, full time score 6-22.

As last week portico's performance was littered with handling errors, in the first half defences were on top with some big hits from both teams, St Pats were the first to score in the right hand corner after a good passage of play saw the winger score, the try was converted and St Pats led 6 - 0 at half time.
2nd half saw an improved Portico not let St Pats out of ther half, and it wasn't long before Connor Dwyer scored under the posts try converted by James Tilley, 2 mins later Portico were in again when Tom Rigby saw David Heslop in acres of space on the left wing Tom's kick was collected by David who scored under pressure from the defence, conversion drifted wide in the strong wind.
In the next set Lewis Foster sliced straight through the St Pats defence, drawing the full back the pass inside was not collected and 6 points were lost,
It was now a case of when Portico were going to score next, quick hands put centre Jamie Tracey through a gap, a last ditch tackle by the full back brought him down 5 meters from the line, a quick play the ball and Lewis Foster scooted over, again the conversion was caught in the wind and drifted wide, score was 14 - 6 with 5 minutes to go.
From the short kick off St Pats regained possession and scored in the right corner, conversion scored
Portico kicked off and the ball sailed out on the full, St Pats were now applying pressure and were gifted a penalty on tackle 5, the ball was switched from right to left with the winger going in, conversion missed, full time score 16-14
